Project complexities, simplified by Alpha:
- Working within an operational substation extension environment, requiring safe systems of work and careful sequencing to manage proximity to high-voltage infrastructure.
- Coordinating closely with Hitachi Energy as Principal Contractor, ensuring alignment with electrical installation works and maintaining programme efficiency.
- Integrating new ducting, troughing and foundation systems with existing infrastructure, requiring precision and coordination to maintain network continuity.
- Managing multiple ducting and containment systems across the compound, ensuring efficient cable routing and long-term maintainability.
Scope of Works:
- Preparation of site including removal and reinstatement of chippings, enabling construction within the substation extension compound.
- Construction of reinforced concrete foundation bases, including shuttering, reinforcement and cast-in holding down bolts for high-voltage equipment.
- Construction of PRR container foundations, supporting relay and protection infrastructure.
- Installation of ducting systems, including 150mm PVC ducts and multi-way duct systems, enabling cable routing across the compound.
- Installation of drawpits and access chambers, including proprietary systems to support maintainability and cable management.
- Installation of precast concrete cable troughs, providing robust and accessible cable containment.
- Connection of new ducting and trough systems to existing infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration with the operational substation.
- Excavation and off-site disposal of surplus materials, followed by reinstatement of gravel and chippings to complete the compound.
