As the push for energy (in this case electricity) from renewable sources continues to place demand on the national grid as a result of intermittent delivery of power into the system, it is becoming a increasing challenge and a source of civils and building works activity.

As a result, the storage of surplus ‘off peak’ energy for release back into the grid at times of high demand is becoming essential to the network.

There are various emerging technologies aiming to tackle this. We have been involved with a number of battery storage schemes, containerised solutions, and within an adapted building. Also we have delivered an innovative system involving the use of super-cooled and liquified air as the storage medium.
