Scope: Adaptation and large scale internal modifications of an existing industrial unit to allow the installation of a 41MW/41MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
The works involved structural alterations and internal fire-resisting compartmentation consisting of extensive foundations, internal walls and insitu concrete roof decks. The installation of new building services to suit the new use was also a significant part of the works.
Unusual aspects
- The construction work was completed in a very confined site, flanked by other businesses operating from adjoined industrial units, a considerate approach was therefore required during the works.
- All business operations on site continued throughout construction.
