At Alpha, delivering high-quality civil engineering projects across the UK goes together with creating meaningful social value in the communities where we live and work. We are always looking for impactful ways to support local organisations, which is why we are delighted to announce our new sponsorship partnership with the Greyhound Trust in Burton-upon-Trent.
We are now official sponsors of the Trust’s dedicated ‘Hotel Check Out’ area – the special spot at the rescue centre where every rehomed greyhound has their official photo taken right before embarking on a new life with their adopted family.
A Chance Meeting at the Burton Albion FC Business Club
Our involvement began when Stephanie Major, Branch Leader at the Greyhound Trust Burton, joined a Burton Albion Football Club Business Club event as a guest speaker. Hearing firsthand about the dedication of the Trust’s team and the work required to rehabilitate and rehome retired racing greyhounds resonated strongly with us.
With the Burton branch also named as Burton Albion FC’s Official Charity Partner for the 2026/27 season, extending our support within the local Burton-upon-Trent community was an easy decision.
Meeting Fletch: The ‘Hotel Check Out’ in Action
To launch the sponsorship, our Managing Director, Tony Bamford, and ESG Manager, Graham Aspinall, paid a visit to the Burton-upon-Trent centre.
During their visit, Tony and Graham had the pleasure of meeting Fletch, a lovely greyhound who was checking out for his forever home that very day. Meeting Fletch provided a fantastic opportunity to see the real-world impact of the Trust’s efforts and witness the excitement of the homing process firsthand.
Our sponsorship directly funds the essential starter packs given to every rehomed dog at checkout. Each pack includes:
- A custom lead and collar for safe everyday walking
- A special homing toy to offer comfort as they settle into their new environment
While a collar, lead, and toy represent a small part of a dog’s broader adoption journey, they provide vital practical support to help every greyhound transition smoothly from rescue care into a loving home.
Building Social Value Across Our Communities
As part of our commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, we are actively looking for opportunities to support local charities, educational programmes, and community initiatives. Partnering with the Greyhound Trust allows us to contribute directly to local animal welfare while strengthening our ties with fellow Burton organisations and partners.
We want to send a massive thank you to Stephanie Major and the entire team at the Greyhound Trust Burton for the vital work they perform every day. We wish Fletch every happiness in his new home, and we look forward to seeing many more happy faces (and wagging tails) in the ‘Hotel Check Out’ photos over the coming months!
