Alpha has once again been recognised for its commitment to health and safety, receiving the RoSPA Order of Distinction for achieving 18 consecutive Gold Awards.
The award recognises our health and safety performance throughout 2025 and reflects the standards, systems and behaviours maintained across our projects and wider business.
This year’s achievement carries added significance as the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Health and Safety Awards celebrate their 70th anniversary. For more than seven decades, the awards have recognised organisations that demonstrate consistently high standards in managing workplace risk, protecting people and continually improving health and safety performance.
What does the award mean for Alpha?
A RoSPA Gold Award represents more than an assessment of accident statistics. Gold Award recipients are recognised as demonstrating well-developed occupational health and safety management systems and culture, strong control of risk and very low levels of harm and loss.
For Alpha, retaining Gold status for an 18th consecutive year provides independent recognition that these standards are being sustained over the long term.
That is particularly important within the environments in which we operate. Our teams regularly deliver civil engineering and building works within live substations, operational industrial facilities, public infrastructure and other complex environments where effective planning, risk management and safe working practices are fundamental to successful delivery.
The recognition also provides additional assurance to our clients, supply chain partners and other stakeholders that our approach to health and safety has been independently assessed against an established international awards programme.
RoSPA identifies its awards as a way for organisations to benchmark performance, demonstrate effective risk management and provide greater assurance to customers, regulators and stakeholders. With more than 2,000 entries each year from over 60 countries, the programme provides widely recognised external validation of health and safety performance.
18 years of consistent performance
The Order of Distinction is reserved for organisations that have achieved at least 15 consecutive RoSPA Gold Awards.
Reaching 18 consecutive Gold Awards therefore represents something particularly important to us: consistency.
Health and safety is not something demonstrated for the purposes of an annual submission. Maintaining this level of recognition over almost two decades requires the standards embedded within our management systems to be reflected in how work is planned, managed and delivered every day.
Our latest Order of Distinction is therefore a reflection of the contribution made by teams across Alpha, both on site and at Head Office, and their continued commitment to maintaining those standards.
We would like to thank everyone across the business for playing their part in achieving another Gold Award and extending our record to 18 consecutive years.
