- Undertaking deep excavation in high groundwater conditions, requiring careful ground and water management to maintain stability and ensure safe construction.
- Working within a live power station environment, requiring detailed planning and sequencing to maintain operational continuity and site safety.
- Operating in close proximity to a live railway embankment and 400kV overhead lines, requiring strict safety controls, coordination and method planning to mitigate risk.
- Constructing a structure designed to withstand significant operational loads, ensuring long-term durability and performance under heavy coal handling conditions.
Scope of Works:
- Construction of a 9m deep reinforced concrete structure, forming a below-ground coal reception hopper and conveyor tunnel.
- Construction of piled foundations for the transfer house, providing structural support for associated plant and equipment.
- Design and construction to accommodate heavy operational loads, including 120-tonne coal scrapers loading the hopper.
- Backfilling of the above-ground structure with approximately 800m³ of as-dug limestone, enabling integration with adjacent coal stockpile operations.
- Integration with coal handling systems, ensuring alignment with operational requirements of the power station.
