Project complexities, simplified by Alpha:
- Installing drainage beneath a live Derby–Stoke railway line without disturbing the track, requiring Network Rail approvals, protective engineering measures and careful planning to eliminate disruption risk.
- Constructing service chambers within the public highway, coordinating traffic management, utility interfaces and reinstatement to required standards.
- Managing excavation works within high groundwater and running sand conditions, implementing ground stabilisation and water management controls to maintain excavation integrity and protect adjacent assets.
- Ensuring compliance with Canal & River Trust requirements, aligning dry dock construction and water control systems with regulated waterway standards.
Scope of Works:
- Construction of a reinforced concrete dry dock and inlet structure, forming permanent marine infrastructure within the marina.
- Installation and commissioning of twin dry dock pumping systems and discharge pipework, enabling controlled operation of the dock.
- Installation of approximately 1500m of pumped and gravity drainage pipework, including pumping stations, attenuation systems, air valves and washout chambers.
- Construction of launch and reception pits, enabling trenchless installation of services beneath the live Derby–Stoke railway line without disturbing the track.
- Installation of stop log systems, allowing controlled water level management within the dry dock structure.
