Project complexities, simplified by Alpha:
- Managing a high water table and sandy ground conditions, requiring specialist dewatering techniques to enable safe and stable deep excavations.
- Constructing deep excavation infrastructure for critical assets, requiring careful planning and sequencing to maintain ground stability.
- Delivering complex drainage and containment systems, ensuring environmental protection and compliance for substation operations.
- Coordinating multiple work elements across the site, including structural, drainage and building works to ensure programme efficiency.
Scope of Works:
- Construction of numerous piled foundations, providing structural support for substation infrastructure.
- Construction of super grid transformer bunds, delivering environmental protection and containment for critical equipment.
- Construction of a control building, including steel frame, composite cladding, internal blockwork partitions and full M&E installation.
- Installation of site-wide drainage and containment systems, including a 270,000L underground emergency oil spillage tank, Class 1 full retention separator, pumping station and new outfall to an existing dyke.
- Construction of access roads and site infrastructure, enabling operational functionality and long-term maintenance access.
- Delivery of final landscaping works, completing the integration of the site within its environment.
